Mikayla Hancock
PSYCHOLOGIST
I am a registered psychologist with a Masters in Educational and Developmental Psychology from the Queensland University of Technology and a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). I have previous experience in a Queensland Health assessment and diagnostic setting (the Child Development Service), and in a counselling and assessment role in a high school. This experience has given me the opportunity to assess a wide range of presentations in both single and multidisciplinary settings with varying cultural, economic, and social backgrounds. As such, I can offer a nuanced and comprehensive approach to assessment, with experience in cognitive, academic, and developmental evaluations, which I now provide regularly at Hardwick Psychological Services for clients aged 6 and beyond into adulthood.
I have conducted assessments for a range of neurodevelopmental differences, such as ASD, ADHD, IDD, SLDs, NDIS access and review assessments, and general assessments of cognition for personal understanding or when beginning careers such as in protective services. Throughout all assessments, mental health is reviewed and risk and safety are an integral part. My approach to these assessments is comprehensive and strengths-based, consistently prioritising increased understanding for the client as an outcome. I ensure that assessment is collaborative and flexible to ensure a safe and positive experience, and pride myself on detailed and timely reports with a focus on fostering an individual’s strengths and providing meaningful recommendations for additional support. It is highly important to me that neurodiversity, developmental progress, and life factors are reviewed and connected to assess an individual in context at their developmental stage.
I have a particular interest in learning and attentional differences, but above all, enjoy providing a warm, informative, and comprehensive experience for clients seeking understanding of themselves and their symptoms. I hope to provide this experience to your patients.
