Therapeutic approach
Lauren’s therapeutic approach involves creating a safe, secure and reliable environment in which the client sets the pace and the goals. As a clinical psychologist, Lauren sees her role in therapy as not only to assist clients in alleviating symptoms of mental illness, but also to carefully assess the story behind the presenting problems, and understand why they exist in the first place. Lauren believes that being a psychologist is an honour and that unconditional positive regard is key in working towards therapeutic recovery.
Lauren began consulting at a private practice in Brisbane in 2013. During this time she commenced a two-year clinical endorsement program, granting her membership to the Australian Psychological Society College of Clinical Psychologists. Lauren is experienced in working with children, adolescents and adults with a broad range of clinical presentations including depression, anxiety, stress, grief and adjustment disorders. She has a special interest in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Lauren currently practices using a scientist-practitioner model approach and evidence-based therapeutic methods mainly based on Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT). She has a special interest in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). Lauren completed her EMDR training with EMDR Institute Sigmund Burzynski.
